Ok Ladies, (and gents) let’s talk about the largest muscle in your body!

Known by many names; Gluteus Maximus, Glutes, buttocks, butt, derriere, tushy, the junk trunk, really I can go on all day! How to get that booty in shape so it is noticed? And I don’t mean because it walks in the door 10 minutes after you do, or requires double door openings.  I mean, how do we get it to be in a shape that we can love and appreciate? HARD WORK PEOPLE!

But, (see what I did there) with dedication and a few exercises, we can get you to love your “rump” so much more!

Where to start? How about squats? The best exercise to work this area.  Using free weights, dumb bells, kettle bells, bars, and bands.  Use a rack or without, up to you! At the gym, or at home, you can work it as hard as you want to.  Lunges, also are a fantastic exercise to strengthen and tone.  Walking or stationery, it is a killer if your form is correct!

Use a body ball, or stability ball for hamstring curls, or even wall squats.

We can not forget the “elephant” in the room, that of course being DIET.  Your eating habits are crucial to achieving success!

Give yourself two weeks, TWO WEEKS to see a big difference! I promise, you will love your new buttocks, and so will your Valentine! Happy Valentines Day from all of us a Fit Equipment Etc!

Happy New Year (Resolutions!)

You ready for 2018??

It is already starting!  Time to eat clean and work out!  The gyms are packed once again. Everyone is on board the fitness train!  Can you hear it?

Try this diet, do this routine, go to this club!  Enjoy your free trials! Sign up for the next 12 week Bikini Challenge!  If you listen closely enough you can hear the “Cha Ching”.

Investing in your health is something you SHOULD do.  Not just for January thru April, but for life!  Committing to get fit should be a daily routine.  Keeping consistency is key. Perhaps that club, or boot camp gets you motivated to get going!  Then great!  Go for it! But maybe, just maybe you should also consider investing some of those dollars on some equipment for your home.  Keep the cardio going, get some kettlebells, free weights, bands, bars, mats.  Bring what you learn out there, into your own home!

Keep motivated daily!  Bring about some good habits to translate to better health ALL YEAR LONG! So don’t be a couch potato!!!

New Year, New Routine! Time to go get it!

New Years

Well it is finally here!

The New Year! 2018, will it finally be the year to get your rear in shape?

Where do you start? Easy, if you fell off the wagon, time to start again.  One day at a time.

If you are a “regular”, but need some new motivation, What should you do?

With so many workout fads out there, really you can just pick one! We all want results, and want them fast.  We think we can undo months of bad habits in 6 easy workouts just 10 minutes a day!  Funny how that works, but that’s the world we live in!

If you ask me, I am “old school”.

With all the classes from group training, to Cross Fit, Les Mills, P90X, P90X2, the list can be endless..so stop the “Insanity”! (Did you see what I did there? Clever aren’t I?)

I guess the point is this, what ever you decide to do, just MOVE! Get back into a routine of health! But most importantly, be CONSISTENT!  Whether you train at home, or at any of the $10 fitness clubs popping up all over the nation, stay strict with your routine and motivation!

Whew! Thanksgiving is behind us..

Did those low fat pies lead to high fat thighs? Let’s hope not!

However, we may have dodged one bullet, still two more to go!

Christmas and New Years! Hence our favorite slogan of the year…MERRY FITNESS AND HAPPY NEW REAR!

We in the fitness industry love this saying.  It makes you chuckle, but it is what we all really want from Santa.

So how do you get fit, and a great behind..lots of hard work my friends!

Stay focused, stay consistent, and keep up with your routines!

A great piece of cardio is important to have as a back up in your home.  A treadmill, great for a casual stroll, or brisk walk, even an all out run.  Bad knees? How about an elliptical.  No shock impact on your joints.  Elevated off the floor, you are able to get a full body workout in less time!  Vertically challenged? How about a recumbent bike?  Great piece for knee replacements/injuries or back issues.  You work at a reclining angle working the eccentric muscles in your legs.

The Holiday Season is Upon Us…Uh Oh!!

The Holiday Season is now upon us. Are you ready? For all of it?

What a great time of year to spend with family and friends! To be social, and have fun reminiscing about past memories, and creating new ones! But it is not all rainbows and sprinkles is it?

The stress and the work of it all. The anxiety levels raise high, and we do it to ourselves.

So why is it the first thing we let fall to the wayside is our fitness regimen. Our workouts, all of a sudden we are way too busy to make it to that class, or that gym. Our diet, starts to hit the fan from Thanksgiving Eve to New Years. I mean come on. Why would we get back on the wagon, only to fall off next week, or the week after? Let’s just keep rolling till January. Let’s just add the 10-15 lb weight gain that becomes “average” among most individuals during this time period.

STOP THE CYCLE! We must! (laughing as I type this, but it is true!)

So many of us fall into the abyss of the holidays, only to start off the new year with added regret and added body fat!

So do yourself a favor, DON’T FALL INTO THE ABYSS! (Use that as your daily motivator)

Move..go to that class, find a good home routine to start. Use a DVD as inspiration! Make sure your back up piece of equipment at home, whether it be an elliptical, treadmill, or bike, is in good working condition. If not, take the time to make that stop into Fit Equipment Etc. to purchase something that will help you achieve your goals! Every day is a new beginning! So make sure to stay motivated and positive. If you fall, it is OK, you are not a failure! Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and hit it hard again the next day. Just don’t fall down and never get up!

We are here for you! So now..there are NO EXCUSES!

Turkey Hangover Anyone?

Oh yes…It does exist!!

That dreaded period of time between Thanksgiving and New Years!  The “no diet” zone!  The “ah the heck with it all” lack of motivation!  It is for real!

Do you know the average person gains anywhere from 5-10 lbs during the months between Thanksgiving and New Years? If you are not accountable for what you eat, and getting in your proper workouts, it can sneak up on you that fast!

Now by all means enjoy your holidays!  Even indulge a little…but get back on the horse the next day!  Get in that walk or strength workout!  Start eating well again, and take in enough water!  You can manage your holidays AND stay in shape!

Holidays are about family, friends and being thankful.  So please remember that is important and enjoy it!  However, so is your health, and you should try to balance good habits with some bad too.

Accountability is crucial, and living a healthy lifestyle is important.  Make a plan ahead of time.  Decide what “cheats” you want to have, and how you will work them off the next day and through the long weekend.  Stay consistent, keep your routine the same and vary the intensity throughout the holiday season.  Lastly, make long lasting memories of family and friends, and keep them as your inspiration and motivation to stay healthy so you may enjoy more of those wonderful times!

Time for Turkey

Let the countdown begin…

Just about a week away from Thanksgiving, or as I like to call it, the most amazing food fest/cheat day of the year!

A time to get together with family and friends, and celebrate all that we are truly thankful for.  So please explain to me how it always revolves around food?  I know it sounds funny, I mean I truly enjoy the turkey and all the fix-ins, however, I am left thinking how did this holiday really translate to food?

People who try so hard to eat well and exercise live a healthy lifestyle most days, but Thanksgiving..well that is the best cheat day of the year!  I mean who the heck “diets” during Thanksgiving?  Does that even make sense? As Chris Berman would say, “Come on Man!” It is not possible!  Dieting should be against the law on this holiday!

I think everyone should get a free pass, in fact I will declare it right now! YOU! Yes, you! The person reading this.. I give you permission to enjoy your family, friends, and eat whatever you want on Thanksgiving!  However, there is a catch.  You have to get back on track the day after! Thanksgiving is ONE day.  Not Thursday-Sunday.  Nope!  So let’s make a deal! You work hard to stay fit, eat well, exercise?  You owe yourself a “day off” to be thankful for all that you have.  If you don’t live a healthy lifestyle, well, perhaps it is time to use this as your wake up call.  Start! One day at a time!

If everyone took time out to celebrate themselves, we may have more positive and happy people around.  The world could be a better place! Now how about we commit to living a healthier lifestyle.  Not just for ourselves, but for those around us. The “trickle down” effect can be huge!  Spreading to family and friends in a very good way!

The holidays are meant to be enjoyed.  They are meant to be a happy occasion.  If you are not happy with yourselves, how can you enjoy this time, or anyone around you?  Think about it!  Deep thoughts with Laurie.
