What Ever Happened to the Stepper?

Ok who wants to go back……WAY BACK?

Like back to the 80’s?  When the “Stepper” made its introduction to many gyms across the country.  Back when women wore thongs on the outside of their spandex, and men wore parachute pants, and crazy prints with neon everywhere.  Or as I call it…the good old days!

 

 

So I may date myself a little here, but it was a cool invention!  Since the inception it has evolved.  It went from a clunky, poorly designed piece, and evolved into a well made, and genius piece.

It is simulated in ellipticals with more of a gliding stride motion, rather than depth.  There are Step Mills that have the actual “stairs” disappearing into the platform only to reappear at the top again!  Think about it!  The motion of using legs is so intense!  Simulating flights of stairs in the comfort of your own home!  From your glutes, to hamstrings, to quads and calves.  It is a great cardio and strength workout!

With all the hype of fitness equipment now a days it has become “lost” in a sea of new things on the market. Until now..

Let me introduce you to the newly redesigned Stepper from Spirit Fitness.  The CS 800 is an amazing piece.  Now hear me out. I was the biggest skeptic at first.  I laughed.  REALLY!  Like out loud laughed.  Then I stepped onto it and did a mini workout.  Holy Hell!  I was a fan!

It was smooth, and didn’t “bottom out” like the originals.  The clunking is no more!  It allowed you to train within your stride depth!  Allowing you to progress to greater depth as your flexibility improves.  The glute workout was intense!  I felt it almost immediately.  The frame structure was beefy, but not too beefy.  Built very well using high grade steel, aluminum and plastic components, and compact!  It really is a win/win!

Now is the time to “rethink” your cardio pieces.  Treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and rowers are not for everyone.  (Although we sell plenty of them too) This is going to be the next BIG THING..AGAIN!   This piece is so new, I haven’t even updated the website yet!

Flavoring your water Naturally! Really!

Well I’ve been doing it for years, but apparently….it’s the “new trend”.

Ok come on, REALLY?  No one has figured out the benefits of making your own flavored water naturally?  Without chemicals, or fake sugars?

Certain fruits, vegetables, and spices can help detoxify the body? Hydrate the natural way? For minimal investment and time?

I don’t have to buy a membership, or join a monthly supplement club?

Yes people..For literally dollars, (like $3) you can have a gallon of this delicious stuff, and reuse it a couple of times, with again, little time or effort!

It amazes me how so many people fall for the “gimmicks” to get lean quick, build bulk fast, yada yada yada, it is endless!

How about good old common sense?  It is free, just have to think a bit..

Eating healthy and exercising has been something we all have heard of.  Eating in moderation, Hydration is a must, sound familiar?  Am I typing anything foreign here?

So once again, come on people, listen up:

1.     Eat less, Move more.

2.     Drink plenty of water (with or without fruit, veggies or spices)

3.     Don’t believe the hype.  There is no magic pill, no fancy wrap or potion to make you lose anything but MONEY.

4.     Be accountable.

5.     Be consistent in your training/workouts.

6.     Smile more, because mean people suck.

7.    STAY POSITIVE! and LIKE OUR BLOG!! 😉

Summer is here! Take your workout to the pool and beach!

Summer is finally here! Enjoy every second, because we New Englanders know how quickly it flies by!

So should you feel guilty about not hitting the gym?  I say, NO!

Take that workout outside!  Hit the beach, hit the pool!  Go for those hikes with the kids, or without! Keep moving and have fun!

If you can make a gym workout 1X a week great!  If not, don’t “sweat it”.

Try to get some cardio in through walking or running.

Take the paddle board out, and work core!

So many ways to keep fit and enjoy your summer!

Try water aerobics, swim laps, deep lunges in water.  The resistance is the water!

At the beach, do walking lunges, squats, push ups, in the sand.  All these exercises can be done without equipment.

How about kettle bells?  Travel pretty easy.  Resistance bands are fantastic for travel!  Easy to carry and you may use different bands for different strengths and exercises!

Be creative!  Think “outside” the gym!  Small accessories are the best way to add a challenge.  Medicine balls, Wall/slam balls, jump ropes, ankle weights, hand held weights, all these things can help “change up” the boring indoor routines.

So GO! ENJOY your time in the sun!  Stay fit, and stay hydrated!!

That is the question!

After a long winter, it is time to think spring! Then Summer!  It is around the corner!

 

It is possible that our birthday suits may need to be “re-sized” at this point.

Spring is a great time to get back into a routine.  The days are longer, weather gets warmer, and the idea of summer is on our minds.

Foam Rollers..are they worth all the hype? Well, in my opinion…YES!

As we age, we tend to get “tight”. Stretching helps keep our bodies flexible. When we are more flexible, we can move easier, and prevent injuries. A foam roller is a device that originated from the physical therapy world, and has crossed over into the fitness industry.
